Branding & Identity, User Interface Design

Museum of Modern Art

I was assigned the task of updating the Museum of Modern Art’s visual identity and website in the Fall of 2017 as part of an Interaction Design course at UNT. MoMA is an iconic brand that doesn’t shy away from bold colors and unique visuals. Inspired by brutalist design (which is reflected in MoMa’s physical buildings and in many of their collections), I kept the classic black and white that defines their identity and added pure magenta for a bold accent.
As one of the largest modern art museums in the world, I found it crucial to redesign their online database. Given that MoMa focuses largely on modern art, it made sense to update their website to fit the modern user. By fine tuning a user-friendly interface, it makes their priceless collection of art more accessible to the world and furthers MoMA’s agenda as an educational institution.
